Our Wedding Cake was topped with fresh Jonathan apples
Curation Nation had a treasury challenge this week and one that I’m rather excited about – Autumn Weddings! Being an October bride, I had the best time planning the big event with Russ. I also had the best seasonal inspiration to draw from. I thought I’d share some of the DIY aspects of my wedding – all of which were purchased on sale or with a coupon at area craft stores. I hope it helps or inspires someone for their own special day!
My wedding programs were handmade with cardstock, text weight paper, ribbon, Adobe InDesign and a home printer.
My escort cards were made from patterned paper, cardstock, parchment, and a home printer. The escort card table centerpiece was made with polish black rock, a string of battery-powered twinkling lights, and willow branches.
The “fallen leaves” fake rose petal touch was my husband’s idea!
The centerpieces on the guest tables weren’t cooperative, but with a little help from a relative, they turned out beautifully! Each tall cylindrical glass vase was filled with fresh Jonathan apples and stems of dried red florals. My husband’s rose petal idea also graced the tabletops. Last, but not least, those little satellite globes you see were glass votives filled with glass beads, red Floralytes, and water.
For the head table, I wrapped white Christmas lights (on a white strand) in ivory tulle and draped it across the front of the table. The head table also had 3 ceramic antique-style vases also filled with fresh Jonathan apples.
When the party was over and the guests went home, what did we do with all those apples? We donated them to a local food pantry! Oh yes, take a look at this autumn wedding inspired treasury, too.
