Tell me a little about yourself, how you got into your craft, and your shop!
For many many years, my family has called me Jeanna (pronounced “Gina”) Beanna…and then it got shortened to Bean Bean or just Bean….so it was only fitting that my shop be called BeansThings! I create nature inspired jewelry and magnet sets.
I have been creating since I was a child. At a very young age I was made aware of the impact that we have not only on our environment, but to our earth’s animals too. I hold these two causes dear to my heart. I strive to be as earth-friendly as I can. I create my own or up-cycle all shipping materials. I print my business cards with a company that runs their business on wind and water-mill energy and prints on recycled paper with soy inks. I try to up-cycle what paper I can to create my items as well.

What are your most favorite items from your shop and why?
Right now I am loving the folk bird pendants in my shop. They are featuring the work of DeadpanAlley here on Etsy and I am in love! I love the chiseled turquoise pendants as well.
Where do you find inspiration for your creations?
Mother nature for sure! The desert landscape here in Arizona is a great inspiration.

When you need a break from Etsy, what do you like to do? What other kinds of things are you into?
I enjoy being in service…so I add a hand where I can. I love to be with my little family and explore. I love photography too!
What advice would you give to someone just starting out on Etsy?
Be patient. Take great pictures and promote OFF of Etsy!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
As a kid I wanted to be…in this order, a ballerina, police officer, archeologist, criminal investigator and a wife and mom!
Anything else you’d like to add?
I would like to just add my networking sites: http://www.facebook.com/beansthings • http://www.twitter.com/beansthings • http://www.flickr.com/beansthings

As a newbie to Etsy, I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks for sharing. I really love the bird pendant.
She has a very good point, Wendy! Patience is key on Etsy. It’s a good thing, I think, to steadily build a business from the ground up. There are a fortunate few who do gain overnight success, but who wants that kind of stress in the beginning? Even if you have been on Etsy a while, tech is always changing as is the ways people shop, trends, tastes, etc. There is always an opportunity to learn!
