How many thousands of words is that?
If that’s what ‘they’ say about pictures, then the treasury I curated on Etsy last is a nice montage of imagery that paints only a partial picture of me. It’s a response to a creative challenge posed by Malarie of itsastitch on Etsy and the goal? Express yourself through an Etsy treasury. I loved the idea. As a crafter, I take an intangible sentiment and fashion it into a physical form of expression between two people. This challenge pushed me to find a way to write a brief biography with sixteen Etsy listings.
But what does it say?
I love rock – the genre, blogs, my big-kid husband and our goofy hound dogs. I love hitting the road, island hopping by boat, and following Kansas State football. I enjoy soaking in the dramatic stormy Kansas skies that loom over landscapes with amber waves of grain. I’m a Halloween-loving night owl with fish bearing my high school colors. I’m a bull-headed Taurus – and that’s not all bad. (My birthstone is a girl’s best friend, after all.) Last, but certainly not least, I’m a former French Hornist with ancestry originating in two continents.
What stories are other people telling?
It was an such an interesting challenge to so many people that Ashli of A Treasured Year began documenting the respondents to the challenge. It’s a pretty timely change of pace since I just spent the last four weeks learning to tell the story of my brand through words. And then to switch gears for a little bit? It was a nice creative and mental exercise!
Let’s continue telling our stories.
I challenge you to tell any story about yourselves through imagery. You can use an Etsy treasury, a mosaic on your blog, a Flickr gallery, or a Facebook fan page photo album. Use no more than 16 photos and link to the photo source. Leave a comment below and put a web site link to your Image Story in the Web Site box below your name and e-mail.
Have fun and happy photo hunting!

I must not be a very complex individual, 16 felt like more than I needed!
@Katherine: No worries – it was a stretch for me as well.
I think a nice mental exercise like this is good for everyone. Thanks for participating!
